Placement Testing Exclusions
You do not need to go through placement testing if you meet one of the following requirements.
- Have ACT/SAT scores that place you at college levels in Reading and Writing.
- If you have earned a minimum of 15 hours from an accredited US college/university with a GPA of 2.0 or higher, you are exempt from the reading and writing placement tests. You will still need to take the math placement test.
- If you are a guest student or already have a college degree from an accredited US college/university.
- Can provide 10th/11th PSAT scores to be used for calculating your academic levels for Reading, Writing and Math.
- Submit a U.S. High School GPA: Graduates from an accredited U.S. high school who earned a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, submit your final transcript showing a posted graduation date. Current high school Seniors who earned a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher at the end of 11th grade, submit your current transcript. You will be placed at 6 reading / 6 writing / 3 math academic levels.

All placement testing is available on campus in the testing center on a walk-in basis.
If you qualify for remote testing, click on the below the placement test you wish to take. Remote testing is reserved for those that cannot physically come to campus. If you live out of the country, state, or county then you may be approved to take the remote test. If you have a chronic or acute medical condition that prohibits you from coming to campus or have recently had a medical intervention such as surgery, you too may be approved for remote testing.
The Writing Placement test is temporarily down as we transition to Canvas. We expect it to be back up and running on July 1st. You may still take the paper pencil test in the testing center or the writing center during regular hours.
Students may complete a Writing Placement or ACCUPLACER (computerized) assessment designed to assesses your skill level in reading and writing. Learn more, see study guides, and read the FAQ's.
The ALEKS PPL is an assessment test that determines which math course you are ready to take.
Please note: You will need a Reading level of 3 or above before taking the ALEKS test.
The Spanish Placement test is currently being offered in the Testing Center on a walk-in basis.
