The Selection Process

The total enrollment of WTMC is limited by Washtenaw Community College (WCC). The enrollment priorities of the school are governed by state law and by the WTMC charter with WCC .

WTMC enrollment selection priorities for the Ninth-Grade Program (current 8th graders) are:

  1. First preference will be given to siblings (not extended family members) of currently enrolled WTMC students who will continue to be WTMC students in the upcoming school year.
  2. Second preference will be given to current Washtenaw County residents.
  3. Third preference will be given to applicants who currently reside outside of Washtenaw County.

WTMC enrollment selection priorities for the Middle College Program (current 9th & 10 graders) are:

  1. First preference will be given to siblings (not extended family members) of currently enrolled WTMC students who will continue to be WTMC students in the upcoming school year.
  2. Second preference will be given to 10th grade applicants who currently live in Washtenaw County. Priority will be given to applicants that were on the waitlist for the previous year.
  3. Third preference will be given to 9th grade applicants who currently live outside of Washtenaw County. Priority will be given to applicants that were on the waitlist for the previous year.
  4. Fourth preference will be given to applicants who currently live outside of Washtenaw County. Priority will be given to applicants that were on the waitlist for the previous year.

Admissions Lottery

If the number of students who submit complete applications to WTMC by the deadline is larger than the number of available slots for the fall semester, a lottery, as required by Michigan law, will be held.

The lottery will be conducted by a WTMC administrator. The lottery will determine who is admitted for the fall semester and who will be placed on the waitlist. The waitlist will remain in effect until the fall semester begins.
